Fr. Zinoviy Zharsky
Born in Lviv, Ukraine in 1965, Fr. Zinoviy, first came to the United States with his wife Nataliya - who is also originally from Lviv - in 1994. He was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on April 11, 1998.
Prior to succeeding the Rev. Stephen Gousios as pastor of our beloved parish, Fr. Zinoviy served as a priest at parishes in the New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas for more than 26 years under the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA which - like our holy and sacred Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America - is also under the spiritual oversight of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Holy Mother Church of Constantinople.
Fr. Zinoviy comes to us most recently from Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Trenton, NJ, where he served as pastor of that parish for over 12 years. He celebrated his last Divine Liturgy there on Sunday, September 8th, which is also the day Orthodox Christians worldwide observe the Nativity of the Holy Theotokos each year. He has relocated to Upstate New York, and will be commuting to Ithaca from the Binghamton area to continue serving the Lord as our pastor.
Fr. Zinoviy and Presvytera Nataliya have four children - one son (Evgeny) and three daughters (Maria, Sofia and Olenka) - and eight grandchildren together. They are a devout church-loving family. Presvytera practices iconography, and their daughter Olenka is herself married to an Orthodox priest.
